Game Session Format

Each gaming session (4 hour period) will be broken up into Scenes that highlights Core, Background, and Sub-Plot content. Each session will be comprised of the main Core scenes whose numbers may vary depending on how you perform. Beyond the Core scenes are the Flashback scenes and the Sub-Plot scenes.
• Flashback Scenes: Each session may have one Flashback Scene that will involve a major turning point of a characters history or characters if their originating background stories coincide (such as family, lovers, rivals etc…). The idea is to highlight a historical event through a “flashback” encounter that predates the current time line. During this time the other members of the group whose characters are not highlighted or needed in the Background scene may take upon themselves a supplemental role as NPC’s as an opportunity to acquire 50 bonus XP. This NPC role will have pre-scripted information to support the role playing. Flashback scenes will last no longer than 30 minutes, unconcluded events should be recorded into a relevant character journal. If conducted well and meets out the GM’s predetermined criteria (which is unknown to the Flashbacked player) for role playing and drama then an additional +3 bonus will be granted to any single skill that was particularly useful during the Flashback Scene. A Flashback Scene is chosen by a single card draw from the Emperors Tarot Deck with the highest number going first , ties redraw. The winner of the draw then draws an additional card to represent the overall theme of the Flashback story. Once a player has been randomly chosen for a Flashback Scene he may not be chosen again until after all other players have had an opportunity. A Flashback Scene occurs in between Core Scenes.
• Sub-Plot Scenes: At any appropriate time and place during the course of the Core Scenes each player may have ONE Sub-Plot Scene that focuses in on furthering a personal long or short term goal for the character. Examples could be getting to know the shop keeper better to purchase as a contact, establishing a romance with an NPC, setting up new accounts with a merchant house for personal gains, basically any encounter that helps to promote the characters interests. A Sub-Plot Scene can last no longer than 30 minutes per session and the player must claim it openly to the GM. The Sub-Plot Scene is a means to help each player to have an opportunity to not only gain additional XP through role playing but also help the other players support their team mate’s interests.
